Dominating 26 acres of land and modeled after the nation’s Capitol in Washington, D.C., the Texas State Capitol was built on one of the highest points in the city. The Capitol was completed in 1888 after seven years of labor at a cost of 3,223,593. At the time, it was said to be the seventh largest government building in the world.
